Just a Quick Drive
08-24-2010
Just a few minutes west of Denver on I-70 is the place where Buffalo Bill is buried. A great destination steeped in history and run by the Carle family for years. Please take the time to visit the landmark location and you can also check out the Lookout Mountain Nature Center at the same time. (link)
So Close and So Beautiful
08-08-2010
Nestled at the base of Mount Evans in the Central Rockies is a little place known as Echo Lake. Just a short 15 minute drive from Idaho Springs on highway 103 it can also be reached from Evergreen on the same highway. The Lodge has a great restaurant and some lovely items to check out. The lake is peaceful and full of life. You can even make the drive up Mount Evans for some of the most fantastic views in the state.
Another Fun Place to Visit

If you feel like getting a way for a couple days and escape the heat we would love to suggest Creede, Colorado. There are some beautiful lodges, guest ranch and bed and breakfasts. For an inexpensive stay with some lovely people try the Snowshoe Lodge. Clean rooms and homey atmosphere. While in Creede don't miss visiting Rare Things Gallery there is truly something for everyone. (link)

Three Rivers Petroglyph Site (Web site)

Three Rivers Petroglyph Site is one of the few locations in the Southwest set aside solely for its rock art. It is also one of the few sites giving visitors such direct access to petroglyphs. The number and concentration of petroglyphs here make it one of the largest and most interesting petroglyphs sites in the Southwest. Pets are not allowed on the trails so leave Fido at home for this one.
